v2.5.26

Route links now come with a proper preview card and you review an invitation before joining

2.5.26 packs about a month of work into one update. Sharing routes in messaging apps and on websites now shows an informative map preview card of the route.

  • Paste a link, get a preview card. Share a public map and the link opens up into a proper preview card wherever you put it, with your route drawn over watercolor artwork picked to match the landscape it crosses, along with the name, the maker, the description and the stats.
  • Automatic card updates. Rename the route, rewrite the description or redraw the line and the preview card is regenerated each time.
  • Private maps stay private. A link to a private map produces no card and gives nothing away, which is exactly how it should be.
  • Sixteen more pages have cards too. Invites, sign-up, pricing and even the error pages each preview with a card that names the page and tells you what happens there.
  • Regions get their own scenery. Featured-route pages now preview with artwork from the region itself rather than a generic placeholder.

Review Invites Before Joining

  • See what you’re saying yes to. The invitation page now shows who sent it, which map it leads to and what role comes with it, so you can look first and join only when you tap to accept.
  • Reading is free. Invite links have limited uses and simply opening one doesn’t burn it.

Improved Plan Limits Explanations

  • See exactly which limit has been reached. Hit a plan limit and you’ll hear which one, what the number is and what you can do next.
  • Legacy pricing support. Legacy subscription plans show up and work the way you’d expect in the app.

Fixes and Polish

  • Markers are real buttons now. You can Tab your way to search pins, waypoints and clusters and a screen reader will announce them properly.
  • No more accidental waypoints. Clicking or right-clicking a marker no longer registers on the map underneath.
  • Improved ligature support. A tiny rendering fix on app pages makes paired letters join up properly.

Security Improvements

  • A quiet security sweep. Sign-in sessions are more secure than ever and we consolidated the protections around signing in, sharing and your account.
